Hi all,
None of this information will be new to people following the EFI diet, however, it is still a useful guide.

It nice to see advice about the problems of insoluble, and sometime soluble fiber, and IBS come from an authorative source like the Cambridge University Hospitals.
Thank you for bring it to our attention.

Indeed, thanks, but pls bear in mind that this article indicates that some foods are low in fibre overall, they may still be high in IF, which some IBSers have trouble with. And there are some foods which are high in fibre overall yet should be fine on account of a high SF content (e.g.cooked oatmeal from rolled oats.)
Lots of SF on its own is fine for IBS sufferers. IF>SF is when potential problems arise.
Having said that a little IF on its own without SF, e.g. eating 1 tbsp (15g) of sweet corn on its own, which has around 0.5g of fibre but all IF won't cause me any problems. (but may be trouble for some sufferers)
-------------------- now: stable through EFI+FODMAP dieting (no lactose/no fructose/some fructans and some polyols)
before: IBS-D(pseudo-diarrhoea), bloating, often unbearable pain esp from too much fat: Apr 2007- Dec 2010
FODMAPs: http://www.todaysdietitian.com/newarchives/072710p30.shtml
[I've tried VSL#3 -> I could tolerate v good amounts of IF (even with less SF), it worked great (but overall I find it too expensive)]
