Not sure if this has been discussed (couldn't find any posts) but any thoughts about the Blood Type Diet? I'm guessing it is rather controversial but, I did find some of the suggestions for my blood type fit me quite well...just wondering if there is any merit to trying this way of eating???

I have been eating for my blood type for about a month now (O+) and so far my digestion has improved.

There isn't any scientific or clinical evidence to support the diet. In fact, there is evidence that the diet is based on a poor and even incorrect understanding of the evolution of blood types. The diet also can have some unintended negative consequences. It is just another fad diet.

Shelgirl, I am not sure how much this means, but I was reading a magazine and Dr. Oz was stating that there is some merit to this type of diet. He did not go into full endorsement mode, but kind of said there are parts of every diet that work. He said some parts of the diet worked for him. You could always give it a quick try and if there is no improvement then toss it. I doubt that a short experimentation will kill you!

If you are interested in what Dr. Oz says about the blood type diet you might view this video.
Generally speaking he switched the topic from blood type to a broad genetic analysis based on cheek swab or blood sample. This tissue or blood sample is used to do a complete genetic analysis not just blood type determine blood. In the future such tests may tell you what foods may or may not be beneficial for you to help lose weight and general health. How quickly this sort of genetic analysis may become prevalent will depend on how quickly scientific research progresses.
