fiber and constipation

I just started taking fiber a couple weeks ago and It was good. my doctor has me on two doses of miralax a day. so yesterday I had 42 grams of soluble fiber from supplements and I ate another 10. Thats 52 grams of fiber 1 and a half gallon of water, two things of miralax. this morning hard pellets for going to the bathroom, how can this be is it I took to much fiber, Im really bloated and I understand that but how can I be constipated. 30 years old and works out 6 days a week

What soluble fiber supplement are you taking?

Increasing fiber too quickly can have a negative effect. You might try backing off and increasing more slowly.

Have you made any of the other dietary changes recommended by the Eating for IBS diet? While fiber and miralax can help it can be more effective to integrate them with an overall dietary approach that minimizes potential IBS trigger foods.
