everytime i eat it i am having cramping...i ate it on french bread with Vegenaise..slight cramps so i wasn't sure if it was just the vegenaise..i've eaten it several times with either french bread without the vegenaise or with a few chips...today i just ate a can plain and sure enough...cramps...why wouldn't the bread have elimated any problem with it? i need simple things to eat and was hoping this would be something i can handle...???...thanks...

Canned tuna in water is safe. If you are saying that canned tuna eaten with nothing else (no bread, Vegenaise or chips) is causing problems you might consider that it isn't the tuna but rather the gastrocolic reflex. However, if you are saying that tuna with bread causes a problem then perhaps it is the fructans in the bread (read the first two links in my signature).

i am guessing that fructans are not the problem since i eat bread every day (either sourdough or french)...usually toasted without anything else for breakfast..

it caused me the symptoms with AND without the vegenaise/bread combined with the tuna...

so if it's the gastrocolic thing..do u think this might get better the more times i try tuna or can it just flare up like that with anything that is actually considered a safe food?..thanks so much!
