I am sorry you got so sick.I am glad you shared about your choice to eat what makes you sick.I have felt this way many times but haven't had the courage to say I did it.It always feels like I am so stupid, yet I know that the degree of my limitations is just going to cause me to fall off the IBS track from time to time(I also have celiac disease and can have no wheat products, which seem to be in everything). I do think that getting so sick is beginning to help me go a longer time w/out making a bad choice. Now that I know the causes,I am better able to hunt for a second best, like something else I like but it won't make me sick.
Anyway, thanks for sharing.I really benefited from reading all the responses too.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but isn't there a lot
of oil (fat) in salmon? I have some here I'm going to
be cooking soon and I'll let you know how I handle it.

Yes Val you're right, there is a lot of fat in salmon (7 grams in 4 oz.) ....the good heart healthy kind of fat, but fat nonetheless. For some people with IBS it just doesn't bother them if they are only eating a normal 4 oz. serving with other no-fat foods like rice. As much as I LOVE salmon (and I mean REALLY love it) I have to choose the lower fat white fish types instead...halibut---2 g. fat in 4oz and cod with 1 g. per 4oz. My sensitivity to salmon happened ONLY with the onset of IBS...darn .... Sooo, if you try it don't overdo it-----and see what happens. You may be fine. Someday I'm going to try to make my own salmon burgers with more rice/mushrooms/and canned salmon which seem to be a bit lower in fat and see what happens.

I'm glad you shared your experience with us, Bev. Most of us, if not all, have gone through the same thing of giving in to our cravings, but were too embarrassed and ashamed to tell anyone what we had done. {{{{hugs}}}}}. My downfalls are: chocolate, ranch dip and chips, cheese and lots of it, basically anything that tastes good. I've been trying to be a good girl and eat better....but there are those days when I want everything bad for me because other people can eat it...why can't I.
