I have a question for Heather. Are all Eggbeaters products IBS safe? The ingredients on the regular eggbeaters state Egg whites as the main ingredient, but I want to be sure I am not eating something that is not IBS safe!
I love your books by the way-a tremendous amount of information, and the Eating for IBS is a great cookbook. I follow it as much as possible, and love many of the recipes.

Eggbeaters are safe because the egg yolks have been removed.

I wasn't aware that Eggbeaters still contained the yolks. I thought that was one of things that was OK to eat and bake with. I eat them everyday without any trouble and bake with them. I buy the store brand and here are the ingredients and it doesn't say egg yolk but maybe it's hidden or something. Here's the list and maybe someone could let me know...

Egg whites, less than 1%: Natural flavor, color (includes beta carotene), spices, salt, onion powder, vegetable gums (xanthan gum, guar gum), maltodextrin. Vitamins and Minerals: Calcium sulfate, iron (ferric phosphate), Vitamin E (alpha tocopherol acetate), zinc sulfate, calcium pantothenate, vitamin B12, vitamin B2 (ribofavin), vitamin B1 (thiamin mononitrate), vitamin B6 (pyridoxine hydrochloride), folic acid, biotin, vitamin D3.

Any input would be great! Thanks!

You may be right.

Egg Beaters® Original are made from real eggs but the fat has been removed.

Egg Beaters® Whites are 100% liquid egg whites

But there web site is a bit confusing because elsewhere they say " Egg Beaters® Original has no yolk for a more nutritious alternative to traditional whole eggs. By removing the yolk, all of the fat and cholesterol—and more than half of the calories—are eliminated"

Personally - I cannot handle either the yolks or the whites - so I cannot eat either of them

Thanks! Maybe since the fat is removed from them they don't bother me for some reason. I think I might try the eggbeater egg whites and see if I feel even better. Thanks again.

Thank you for your responses! I've been buying EggBeater's Original, I'll buy the Eggbeater's Whites next time - just to be safe. The ingredients list makes the Eggbeater's Original sound safe though...
Side note: I made Heather's Chocolate Applesauce cake yesterday (fabulous and NO Eggs of any kind in the recipe)
