Well I guess it couldn't hurt. I'm going to try it and will keep you posted on the results.
Thanks so much!

Syl,
You had mentioned the Natren probiotics, and so I felt that was a solid recommendation. I found the Natren "Healthy Trinity" probiotics at a natural foods store in our area called Earth Fare. It looks to have a higher count of the all the right stuff, and no artificial ingredients as some of the others. Again, many thanks!

Unfortunately, Health Trinity does not contains the probiotic strain found in Align which is Bifidobacterium infantis. Life Start and Life Start 2 are the only Natren probiotics that are equivalent to the clinically tested Align.

in your opinion, is the Bifidobacterium Infantis a more significant source of help (for IBS problems), as compared to the ones found in the Health Trinity? i don't mind spending $53 a month (30 capsules) on something that is beneficial, but i want to make sure i am on the right path.

otherwise, i have a pack of the GoodBelly BigShot probiotic drinks, but am not sure if these have a limited amount of what's needed?

thank you Syl.

As I stated in my original response there are very few probiotics that have been tested for their efficacy for managing IBS symptoms. The bacteria in Health Trinity have not been clinically tested for IBS. Bifidobacterium Infantis has been clinically tested for IBS with reasonable results .

Align works well for me I notice it the second day. I have a question if any one can help. Can you still eat the foods that you should not have like dairy, beans, and nuts while taking probiotics or should you just avoid them altogether?

I just wanted to say thank you for this post. I have been trying Heather's advice, along with different probiotics and supplements for about 6 months with little progress. After reading this post a week ago, I decided to try the Bifidobacterium infantis (Align). It is working for me! I have had gas and bloating frequently and now I'm digesting normally, even after whole grains and other trigger foods. It may not be for everyone, but I highly recommend to try this first before other strains of probiotics. Thanks so much for this post!!!

glad it's working for you! i know Align is expensive and I was a bit skeptical, but it works quite well for me too. If I miss a day or 2 i really notice more bloating. That makes it worth it to me!
