Does anyone know if syrups like benadryl liquid or cold eeze drops bother IBS? On top of IBS exacerbation I have a cold. I can't seem to get back on track since the holidays though I am eating nothing but what should be IBS safe foods:( I tried eating p. 22 suggestions for a couple days last week and I ended up feeling like I had mono I am guessing from a lack of protein and strain of holidays. Tips please!

Benadryl liquid contains diphenhydramine an antihistamine which can upset the GI system and sometimes produce C. However, the cold it likely the worst culprit. Probably just have to wait it out.

Thanks Syl. Do you use the FODMAP approach? I did see this a couple months ago in a book, but I was turned off by how complicated it looked. Now I am ready to try anything to get back on track. I am going to go meet with Kate Scarlata, the dietician in your link since I am lucky enough to be in the area. I have been wanting to see a dietician since it looked like I had IBS. The hell with the insurance company for not covering it unless you have diabetes! Ridiciulous! I am losing weight and really unhappy about it. I am a rail anyway. New Year's Resolution is to gain weight...not your typical one. WIshing you and the IBS community a Happy New Year. May it bring much improvement in the health arena!

the FODMAP diet worked for me. It can be difficult to buckle down and do it but its very effect for a lot of people. i ate mainly oatmeal, chicken breast, rice, and garden or greek salad.
