Are the snacks that are listed at the beginning of this message board all considered IF and should be put with an SF to be safe or are they safe by themselves?

The snacks are generally considered safe as is. However the ingredients change with time so you should check the ingredients before buying. For example Luna bars now contain inulin which isn't safe, rice crackers are frequently made from whole grain rice and some Graham crackers contain high fructose corn syrup.

AWG, I just bought 2 Luna bars too and your right the inulin is in there. I would think that the whole grain rice wouldn't be an issue cause it is a rice and not a wheat. So are the snacks, bread, etc in healther's recipe book good by themselves or do you need an SF with that too?

Rice, wheat, corn, etc are cereal grains. Bran from cereal grains are known to exacerbate IBS. I would presume the snacks in the book are safe. Perhaps someone knows for sure.

so it's the "whole grain" that is the IBS issue? If so, then as long as it doens't say "whole grain" then it's possibly ok to eat? Hard to keep track of all this.

thanks
