Are baby foods safer to eat than actual fruits? I had a terrible attack after eating a whole pear a few weeks ago, so I was wondering if baby food pears (Earth's Best Organic) would pose the same problem. Do baby foods in general have less IF because they are peeled and mashed? I don't mind switching all of my fruits to baby food, but just want to make sure it's going to make a difference. Thanks in advance!

i don't know how it is for anyone else, but when i have bad days i eat the baby food and it doesn't bother me. if you have a problem with IF, i think it should be fine; but if you can't tolerate fructose eating the fruit or baby food would make you feel bad, i would imagine! my main issue is IF and high fat...

If you have troubles with excess fructose in pears, apples, melons, honey, high fructose corn syrup, etc eating baby food won't make a difference. You have to eliminate or reduce such foods from your diet. Have you had a fructose malabsorption breath test? About 50% of individuals with IBS have this problem. Check the links in my signature for more information.
