I've got a couple of questions that have been on my mind, and now that my daughter is finally basically stable (!), I have the time to ask about them.

I'm curious to find out how long folks find it actually takes/took to stabilize themselves once starting the btc diet. Do people generally feel that the 4-5 days of btc stabilizes them? I'm asking because that wasn't our experience and I'm wondering how common/uncommon our experience might be.

Also, how long did you find you needed to stay on btc foods before you were able to incorporate other EFI foods without losing ground? Again, just wondering what is more usual.

Thanks in advance to whoever can take a minute to fill me in!

I think it really depends on what your diet was like before that is, how bad it was. For me just getting off dairy was a huge help. I didn't do the BTC diet but just went with what I thought was safe. I made a lot of mistakes at first and still improved and lost weight too. I started a bit in April and by July was doing great. I had a relapse in September (this is 2004 I mean) and can never be stable in winter.
I also think it depends a lot on C D or A and how much SFS you take. I think people with C have a harder time stabilizing on the BTC. People with D need a very gentle transition from all SF.

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
