Does IBS also affect the upper part of the stomach? Sometimes I feel it right in my gut and in the lower part. Does anyone else experience this or am I only one? I hope not. Also, I have rhuematoid arthistis and does any food on the IBS diet trigger the inflammation and swelling of R.A.? I heard that white flour would cause inflammation. Does anyone know for sure? Thanks for all your help and I love the receipes! Oh yeah, why am I always hungry? anyone feel this too?

Sure, I have pain from top of gut to bottom at various times.
I don't know much about RA but I have heard really ultra-healthy diets high in omega fats and low in carbs and cals but high in veggies and fish help RA. You could modify that for IBS. You still have to have SF but you can get it from SFS (like acacia), and SF fruits and veggies instead of carby carbs. You can have all the fat you can safely eat (up to 1/3 of cals) be the omega 3 kind too.

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
