I'm am sort of figuring things out as I go along. I have already added some protein because I was feeling pretty bad. Yes I eat chicken and porkchops and have a new Delonghi toaster oven. My micro is my friend. I use red/white/purple potatoes so I use a steamer.

My next thing is figuring out veggies. I need some just to cut the density of the carbs. I know I can eat carrots and mushrooms, how do I do say broccoli or cauliflower or are they out of the question?

I"ll get the hang of it, just overwhelming at the start.

I can't go anywhere near broccoli or cauliflower. They hurt my stomach too much. I eat more protein than you might because, with my IBS-D, I need the binding action that sometimes comes with the extra protein. You, with IBS-C, might be able to handle broccoli or cauliflower...it's kind of a trial and error thing. Try introducing one thing at a time, and if you handle it well then okay. If you don't, then you know to stay away from it. It just makes it easier to narrow it down if you add just one thing at a time.

I can handle some veg, but they have to be cooked to within an inch of their life and I can't eat a lot, even with a good SF base.

Another thing to consider is your calcium...I take calcium carbonate because I need the binding that it can cause. You might consider calcium citrate...I can't take ANYTHING with "citrate" in it. Makes me crampy and runny. Ugh. (People with experience with calcium citrate, please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.)

I was reading about broccoli and cauliflower yesterday. I'll just feel things out. Had some green beans yesterday and things not too bad. I have a much better sense today of what I need to do and make some modifications. I'm not used to eating this much carbohydrates so I need to figure out the balance, SF vs ISF. I need as much as can to poop!

I have osteopenia so I take Calcium as citrate and carbonate and magnesium. I can look for cal citrate when i need to get new stuff. Magnesium glycinate will not cause diarhea if you need mag.
