I was diagnosed with IBS a few months ago. My symptoms started before my 29th birthday. I never had digestive problems before and I believe my IBS was caused by a particular yogurt I was eating (and greatly regret).
I'm struggling to figure out what works/what doesn't work. I have been trying to follow Heather's IBS diet and started using the tummy fiber yesterday. I know the site says my symptoms shouldn't get worse, but they seem to be on my 2nd day. I took 1/2 tsp. last night and another 1/2 tsp. this morning. Has anyone else experienced this?
My main symptoms that I struggle with are rapid digestion (hungry every 2-3 hrs.), increased motility and horribly embarrassing gut/intestinal sounds. Gas and diarrhea are sometimes a problem as well.
Any help would be GREAT!

Welcome to the board,
It is slow on weekend. I don't use Heather's tummy fiber so I cannot talk from experience. There is a sticky post at the top of this board Tummy Fiber Acacia dosages - starting, increasing, switching from other fibers, and more... that has some instructions on how to use the fiber supplement. Note it says "You can also start at just 1/4 teaspoon twice daily if you suspect that your gut needs a slower adjustment period to fiber."
It can take a while for your bowel to adjust to some fiber supplements.

Thank you!
I did notice that post, but since practically all I eat is soluble fiber (sourdough bread, english muffins, white rice, etc.) I thought I would be okay taking 1/2 tsp. I'll give 1/4 tsp. a try and see how it goes. I guess with everything I'll just have to give it some more time. Thanks for the help!

I found the fennel tea to be particularly helpful for gas. It seems to provide immediate relief as well as "protection" for the future.

Thanks, Jenny. Do you think the fennel helps more than the peppermint oil capsules? I don't have either yet and was thinking about getting the peppermint to see if that would help.
