They have always been safe for me. Oatmeal is safer still.
When my IBS-D was at its worst, oats were my go-to, always safe substance.

However, please note that some of tolerate oats very well and others have been known to call it "outmeal" instead.

Cheerios work for me.
I alternate between them and oatmeal.

Oats are generally very safe, as is cheerios- a good low sugar choice. However oats are known for making some people I little tooty- like a horse. I don't notice a difference in me. I remember a kid on the bus used to eat cheerios and make cheerios burps all the time!

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
