This product is advertised for cooking/baking. Can it be used as SF?

Methylcellulose is the active ingredient in Citrucel SFS. It is a poorly fermented soluble fiber that is suppose to produce relatively little gas. You will find it is added to many baked, processed foods and supplements.

I may try a new SF. This product appears to be pure with no flavoring or additives which is what i prefer but i cannot find any reference to it for use as a fiber "laxative". Syl, is there anything i should be careful of?

Cheers.

Check out the information on SmartFiber in Citrucel. They call methylcellulose SmartFiber for marketing reasons. The FAQ has some interesting information. As with all SFS start slowly and build up the dosage. Here is a description of methylcellulose as a bulk-forming laxatives, also called fiber laxatives.
