Getting very depressed

I'm just a little over 2 weeks in on the hypnotherapy CDs, I have been avoiding the major trigger foods and I still am getting extremely painful constipation. How did those with IBS-C manage to control their symptoms? I'm just getting very depressed because nothing I seem to do controls the constipation.
Any other suggestions? Work just got hugely stressful, my granddad died a month ago, I had my cycle and the 3d anniversary of my mom's death is on Saturday. I would like to be able to handle stress in other ways than being in pain on the toilet.
I really need some help. And I'm sorry if I'm boo-hooing a lot... I was IBS-D for a while and then for the past while it's been IBS-C and that's just been excruciating. I really can't afford to lose anymore weight.

Megan29 try to keep the faith.
Two weeks is to early for the tapes. They are a process. Your bowels will start to normalize.

This is a lot to handle and I am sure is effecting you. Sorry to hear about your grandfather. All your going through would be tough on anyone. Also sometimes we need to grieve and that's natural.
I hope you feel better soon.

I too struggle with severe constipation but recently have been doing much better. I take 2 colace and 1 align every night. It didn't work over night, but the combo of these has helped SO much. My doc also highly recommends miralax, but it didn't work for me. I had some cramping with it. I also take benefiber-- 2 teaspoons in the morning and 1 tablespoon at night. Everyone is different, so I can't say this will work for you, but it is what is working for me. I still have some gas, but I have a BM almost every day. The longest I've gone is 2 days without a BM, but that is very rare for me now. Feel better! The stress you are having only makes it worse, so take a deep breath and just keep trying your best to keep your chin up. It DOES get better!
