Interesting overview. Scientific American publishes excellent articles.

The idea that the brain in the gut may play a role in psychiatry is intriguing. One thing I am guessing they may find is that the brain in the gut may play a pivotal role in the neurophysiology of panic attacks, a condition that commonly co-exists with IBS.
