Julie perhaps it is time for only pay attention to the team of professionals that are trying to help you and quite listening to anyone else for a while. Instead of posting messages about your diet to this board you might call the help line which is there to give you quick access to these excellent professionals. And for the next 2-3 months stay strickly with the diet they recommend.

Too many people are giving you too much advice at this critical point in time. It is very important that you focus solely on what Prof. Whorwell's team suggests you do and not let anyone - including people on this board - sway you for following their advice.

Give the hypno and diet time to work. It could take several more months.

Julie, foods and stress don't cause IBS.

But foods can be triggers to the underlying condition.

So can your thoughts and feelings.

There is a type of brain in the gut called the enteric nervous system. There is a bidirectional communication between your brain and your gut, messages go both ways.

Your brain can have a big impact on your gut and the symtptoms and your gut can have a big impact on your brain.

This is one reson why HT has shown to work so well for some people.

You have comorbid issues along with your IBS that can effect your IBS.

I think personally its important for you to learn some of these issues.

Fear, worry, scared, anger, depressed, antisipatory anxiety, stress, anxiety all effect the gut in IBS.

This does not make it "all in the head" it means the brain can upset or help the gi tract and your symptoms.

There are physical problems in IBS.

I posted this to you before.

Modern IBS research has established IBS as a brain-gut disorder.

Perhaps it best not to ask the hypno team diet questions and don't ask the diet team hypno questions. This way you will make sure they are on the same page However, for reasons I don't understand you are jumping all over the place and not paying attention to anyone. Why?
