So my old favorite drink was Diet Peach Snapple which I completely gave up becasue of IBS and because aspartame is not very good for you. I also used to drink a lot of green tea with sweet and low in it. I know some people say sweet and low is addictive. I notice that every time im upset or depressed I feel like I need a diet snapple. The other day I was bad and bought one and told myself Id only have a few sips. Well, I had like half the bottle and I felt ok. It think it causes a little gas but not a lasting pain like other sweeteners can cuase me pain for days. If I'm not feeling good to begin with it will often make me feel worse tho. But sometimes I actually notice that the aspartame makes me feel better, like it blocks the pain signals from my brain to stomach. Its the same feeling I get when they do acupuncture on my stomach. Its like how I used to feel before IBS how I wasnt constantly aware of my stomach, even if its just for a little bit. Is it possible that aspartame blocks pain signals from my stomach?? Does it have an effect on serotonin maybe? Anyone else relate to this. Im not saying aspartame is a good thing, but just soemthign I observed. Maybe its all in my head tho who knows:)

Don't know about any good effects, but I'm afraid to touch much of the stuff after reading up on it. I used to LOVE diet soda.
