Well, I blew it! I splurged on New Year's Eve and mixed up some Ranch dip and bought some Ruffles potato chips.....I've been eating it practically every night since then. Luckily it hasn't bothered me....yet. But I am mad at myself for falling victim to my food cravings. I've also been eating Christmas sweet treats, chocolate, etc. Non of which have been bothering my IBS....I can't believe it! But, that's another bad thing about it is that since these haven't been triggering anything...I eat more of them. My husband has been out in his work-shop a lot lately and I'm in the house by myself and start nibbling on chips, dip, etc., etc. as I work on crafts, clean house, etc. What can I do to stop this nibbling. I only weigh 128 lbs....but if I keep this up I'll be like the Pilsbury Dough boy!

THis is a bit of a dull answer, but just fill yourself up on something safe, but tasty and satisfying first and then you'll feel less like nibbling on the naughties! It does work (most of the time). As soon as you feel a snack attack coming on get scoffing on something safe first.
Are you eating enough safe foods in the first place? I find if I am, I hardly ever get a craving for anything, just don't feel hungry enough, and believe me, I am generally known as the craving Queen!!

I finally threw all my Christmas candy and goodies away to prevent myself from eating them! Most of my stuff was not IBS-friendly and I kept snacking until I ended up bloated and gassy. I try to do this with any food that ends up in my apartment (that's not my roommates) and is not good for me.
Should work with snacking too!

With my IBS, there is absolutely no way that I could eat those foods and not have any reactions to them. I have heard that in some cases, IBS can come and go throughout life. I don't quite understand that, because I'm not really willing to test to see if it has gone away or not. I'm skeptical about that whole aspect. Anyway, that's cool that you have been able to indulge. Just be careful.

Ooooh, this doesn't sound good. If I did that, I'd have such an attack, oh MAN!
So do you know WHY you're doing it? If you want to stop, then I would ask myself this: is it worth the inevitable attack I'm gonna get. That's the bottom line: Do I want another damn IBS attack? For me, NO food is worth it -- not even my friend, Jack Daniels!
Can you toss out all that junk food? Or do others in your home eat it as well? You've been lucky so far -- but I understand we can get "delayed" attacks from "no-no" foods we've had days ago. If this fact isn't enough to get you to quit, I don't know what else would!

I can totally sympathize with you!! Lately I have been eating loads of candy or cookies. It's when I'm at work and bored. I know I shouldn't eat it, but I just can't make myself eat fat-free crackers or french bread instead of M & M's! I think I haven't had a bad reaction to it yet because I just finished the IBS Audio Program. Somehow I will have to stop soon though, since I will be traveling to Mexico in a couple of weeks!
Let me know if anything works for you..

It's funny how sometimes certain things bother me than other times I'm totally fine with it. And then sometimes bad foods I eat just finally catch up with me. It takes a lot of self control to not cheat at all on this IBS diet so don't beat yourself up over it. This time of year it's hard to resist the food that we probably all used to be able to eat with no stomach pain. Break your nightly pattern and shop for some alternative munchies. Good luck!

I think, for me, I just have to get all these "bad" foods out of the house. I think it's because it not only tastes so good, but I get bored and have a short attention span. I'll be working on a craft project or something and 15 minutes or so into it I take a break and munch on a chip or something. I don't do it so bad when hubby is in the house, but when he is in his work-shop and I'm in the house alone....I don't know what happens....

I am the same way! When my tummy is good I pig out and am so happy that I have no symptoms. But then guess what...never fails. My stomach eventually reacts within a few days or a week. Be happy that you got your junk food cravings out of the way and now throw out all the bad stuff and eat Heather`s receipes instead (snack mix, dip, banana bread) and go for regular walks or swims or whatever suits you. Cheers.
