I am so tired of having a huge, inflated stomach that can't clear out.

I'd like to know what I can do about this, as it is incredibly frustrating.
The worst part is I do not know what to eat as snacks/sides.

The only thing this site says to do is have solubale fiber...but all that does is make you more hungray.

It would be helpful if there were things I could have with breakfast/lunch/and as snacks/before bed that would help quinch hunger and keep the metabolic going.

Having white bread just exaberates the need to eat again.
Any suggestions?

What can I have?

Breakfast:
-Instant Oatmeal
-______________?

Lunch:
-Snadwich
-Baked Chips

Dinner:
-All set

Meal Before Bed:
-Usual ceral (which again too much carbs)

What does the instant oatmeal contain besides oatmeal?
What cereals are you eating?
Are you taking a soluble fiber supplement?

You might change from white bread to sourdough. The only bread I eat is sourdough. You can have more protein snacks e.g. canned tuna or salmon, smoked oysters or mussels, or add some pure peanut butter to a slice of bread, etc.

Do you prepare your own meals or do purchase prepared foods?

The most frustrating thing is that I have no clue what to have as a snack, especially my after-dinner snack.

If I could eat yogurt or nuts, I would be fine.
I can't and I can not tolerate peanut butter.
So instead I end up having leftovers from dinner (which bloat me, as it is too filling) or one of Heather's safe cereals (which too leads to overeating and future hunger).

It would be nice if there was something to have as a snack BESIDES carbs which lead to being more hungray.

Any suggestions since I can't handle nuts or PB?

What is a good, safe, appetite supressing snack.
Appleasauce does not cut it...high Glycemic Index.
God I hate IBS...I wish we could have NUTS.

The ingredients, under nutritional information, in the oatmeal link you post are as follows:

WHOLE GRAIN ROLLED OATS (WITH OAT BRAN), SUGAR, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS, SALT, CALCIUM CARBONATE, GUAR GUM, OAT FLOUR, CARAMEL COLOR, NIACINAMIDE*, VITAMIN A PALMITATE, REDUCED IRON, PYRIDOXINE HYDROCHLORIDE*, RIBOFLAVIN*, THIAMIN MONONITRATE*, FOLIC ACID*.

The bran has been added back in to increase the fiber and it contains natural and artificial flavorings. You want to avoid all cereal bran which included oat bran and artificial flavors. I believe the same thing is true of most Quaker instant oatmeal.

Have a look at regular and quick oatmeal. Notice they only contain rolled oats with no added bran. I use the regular but the quick look just as good.

Something I use as a snack are plain matzo - essentially they are very large cracker made from flour, salt and water. They are usually available in the Kosher section of the grocery store.

I presume you are using the plain Benefiber not the orange flavored. I would follow the instruction on the label but 3 tablespoons spread over a day sounds reasonable.

Yea - snacks are a real problem. I eat low carb during the day and leave high carbs for evening time when I want to snack. A few low fat potato chips, a motza with peanut butter and homemade rasberry jam and chocolate sauce a slice of homemade sourdough toast are my snacks

For years, I couldn't eat peanut butter. A couple of years afer I started serious dietary management I found I could handle a teaspoon or so of pure PB - no added fat or other additives - about once a day.

Can you snack on things like saltines and drained smoked osyters cut with lemon juice?

1) What is the problem with instant oatmeal? The regular and quick...it is too bland...I really am tired of bland breakfast.
Is it REALLY a problem...the instant v. quick?

2) So there really are no snack alternatives besides stuff loaded with carbs...nothing that could help quinch an appetitte or hunger while NOT adding a lot of calories?
The problem is....when you eat a meal...then have to eat more carbs...it continues to add calories...which makes you backed up and bloated.

So there is NOTHING besides high glycemic index food?

-What about Clemintines or dried fruit?
Hummus?

Instant oatmeal had added oat bran. Oat bran is a cereal bran. Cereal brans are known to promote bloating in IBS. Regular or quick oatmeal does not have added bran. It is not as likely to promote bloating. Flavor the regular or quick with fruit juice when you make it or add a sprinkle of sugar and a sliced banana.

Humus is fine if you can eat it. Fruit such as Clementines should be fine. Dried fruit can be high in excess fructose and sulfur dioxide.

Thanks.

I just went to the store.
Nature's Promise sells ORGANIC Instant Oatmeal...which is flavored.

1) It did not have any bran...in that instance...would it be safe?

2) What about this, would this be safe?

The NatureValley product contains "whole grain oats". Whole grain oats contain the bran. All whole grains contain the bran. It is the bran you want to stay away from. I think Nature's Promise organic maple oatmeal is made from whole grain rolled oats. The keywords are "whole grain". You want to stay away from products containing whole grains.

Note that whole grains are in Heather's insoluble fiber list.

Stick with 'rolled oats' not 'whole grain oats' or 'whole grain rolled oats' because they still contain the bran.

If you want maple flavor oatmeal buy the Quaker regular or quick and add some maple syrup before you eat it
