I will not eat anything with MSG. Long ago I figured it was a trigger for me.

I do it for my health, not for the IBS. Steer clear of MSG!

I also avoid msg, but not because it upsets my insides-but because it gives me a rash!

I get my family's food from a food pantry sometimes and they gave out pasta boxes with MSG in it. Now, there's the pasta in the box with seasoning packages. The MSG is in the seasoning packages, not the pasta, don't you think? I was thinking of dumping the seasoning but making use of the pasta. What do you think?

The pasta should be fine if it is only in the seasoning. Chuck the seasoning and enjoy the pasta

Sometimes it's difficult to know what has MSG in it or not when eating in a restaurant, particularly Chinese or Japanese food. While they claim that they do not use MSG and I believe them as far as sprinking powdered MSG onto or into the food when cooking, nonetheless most of the bottled seasoning sauces they use for flavor do contain MSG.

I always know when there was MSG in something I ate because it gives me bodily physical 'shakes'. The 'shakes' in turn seemingly step up my GI tract peristalsis, and before I know it I have dumped the meal into the toilet from my bottom end. It seems the majority of those allergic to MSG get headaches, though that is not the case for me. I suppose if an IBS sufferer wants an instant colon cleanse, just put some MSG into your food and see what happens!

This is why it's often better to make your own soups and sauces from scratch. At least you will know better as to what is in it before you eat it and have some dreadful reaction.
