For the person who asked the question about IBS symptoms excacerbated by taking Lipitor...

I took Lipitor for 6 months. It literally tore up my gut and made my musles ache everywhere. Such is a side-effect of most cholesteral reducing drugs for many. My cholesterol level drop was next to 'nil' after taking it for 6 months. During that interval I was absolutely miserable with gut problems and muscle aches and pains throughout my body.

Following an IBS safe diet will naturally drop your cholesterol level and you won't have to suffer from prescription drugs that make you feel worse overall rather than better, and do not drop your cholesteral level meaningfully, simply to satisfy your doctor. We are not about making our doctors happy, we are about making ourselves comfortable and healthier.

I don't think ANY cholesterol reducing prescription today (basically toxic poison) is good for anyone with IBS problems.

Take acacia fiber from this website instead, follow the diet, and just watch the amazing results in reducing your cholesterol, absent expensive prescription drugs. Best of all, you won't suffer all the of the muscle aches and pains, and will be better nourished overall by following the IBS diet.

I often wish seemingly HEALTHY people would learn to eat this way, as they could avoid many health issues later. This would also apply to avoiding a diagnosis of diabetes in later life.

I take Lipitor to lower my cholesterol and I do not have any problems with it. I am a small person, not overweight, I eat healthy, exercise and because of family history I have high cholosterol. My father had triple bipass surgery in his 50's. I do not take this mediction to make my doctor happy. I take it to avoid possible heart problems in the future.

My IBS has been stable for several years now. I follow Heathers diet and take acadia. These changes made a world of difference in my life.

We are all different and what worked or didn't work for you may work or not work for someone else. There are many people here that do not jump into taking medication lightly but in some cases it is something that unavoidable and needed to be healthly.

Hi Janey,

If it works for you with no side-effect, by all means take it. As you say, we are all different and this is so very true.

For those experiencing major symptoms with Lipitor, then they should discontinue it. I personally find Heather's products and following an IBS diet to be the answer to my once high cholesteral level as well. This wouldn't be true for everyone, as there are no precise answers to underlying peripheral conditions, which may or may not be related.

To be completely honest here, I have been able to discontinue my blood pressure med since I started taking Heather's acacia fiber. Isn't it intesting which things affect other things? If I take the BP med now, I have dangerously LOW BP!

I'm happy that I found the place and the resources of my root problem... that being gut related and the brain-gut miscommunication around my health, i.e. IBS.

Take care and continue to be good to yourself. I do enjoy your posts.
