Has anyone eaten turkey meat in place of red meat? How does your ibs handle it? I am ibs-d and high fat just doesn't go well with my tummy. I was at the super Wal-mart and seen that they have turkey meat in strips, hamburger patties and ground up so I was wondering if anyone eat that type of meat and if its ibs safe.

I use this all the time, replaced ground beef with ground turkey. I haven't had any problems with turkey or chicken. The ground turkey, to me, tastes the same as ground beef. I make meatloafs, burgers, spagetti, etc.

Ground turkey with a mix of white and DARK meat can be as high in fat as ground beef, so in order to keep to a low fat diet, you will want to avoid that kind of mix. Instead buy ground turkey breast, which is 99% fat free. It is a great replacement for beef - I just had a turkey burger yesterday that satisfied my craving for a burger. I could hardly tell it wasn't beef.

Mrae, I buy a 85/15 mix of turkey. I find the all white too dry, and the light mix does not bother me at all. It is a great substitute and very versatile. I just made a Shepperd's Pie the other day, that was delish.

I buy ground turkey at Costco. It is made from white and dark meat with a total fat content of 5 grams / 100 which is very lean. The amount of fat in mixed turkey will depend on the vendor. So check the label to see if the store you normal shop at has low fat mixed turkey.
