I was diagnosed with IBS years ago, but I have a problem with following any of my Dr.s oders. I want a fast cure. I hate this. Is there anything out there that can eliminate the bloated/gassy feeling immediately? It's sooo embarrassing at work, I have passed gas twice now, and I am humilated.

The only quick fix is fennel tea. Try it before meals and before the bloating gets worse-i.e. most people get worse after lunch so drink the tea before lunch and take 2 pep caps too for good measure. Preventing bloat is better than treating it.
Prevention methods: (these are about all we have until medicine comes up with a good bloating cure)
no naps
walk a lot
wear loose clothes (especially no tight high waists)
walk after eating
stand while eating
poo when you need to
pee when you need to (you'll need to a lot after all the fennel tea)
eat really often in small amounts
chew thoroughly, eat slowly!
don't use straws, chew gum or talk while eating
that is all I can think of
good luck!

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!

While it is important how much fruit and veggies you eat it is also important which ones you eat. When you do eat fruit which ones do you tend to eat?

I usually just eat bananas or applesauce. I have IBS with constipation.

Personally, I have IBS-A, but I lean a LOT more towards C. I have to be really careful that I do get SOME insoluble fiber from VERY small amounts of beans or veggies. If I stick to soluble fiber only I will be EXTREMELY C, which just leads to more bloating.

I have not found a cure for bloating (imagine if I did though haha), but I have found that acidophilus pills help more than anything else. Once I am bloated I take one and it often will go away. Hope this helps!

Question about the acidophilus. Do you use the pearls? I have been using Align, but it is expensive and I don't think it is doing much for me. I was thinking of switching to the Pearls. Have you tried them?
