I'm not sure where to post this, but I am having issues with IBS. I'm very alone in this, and any support would be much appreciated.
For almost two months now, I've been suffering from the horrible symptoms of IBS. It's extremely difficult to deal with. I was diagnosed with it in 2007, and it took me months to "recover" or become stable with it. In July 2009, I ate some things on the 4th of July that I shouldn't have. Hamburgers, hotdogs, and then burger king, followed by three days of Chinese food. I never knew IBS was a life-long condition. I thought it was gone after I got over the episode in 2007. So, I began to get the symptoms all over again and worse. I lost weight (98lbs to now 90 lbs), from barely eating, much and diarrhea chronically. I'm a small girl to begin with and this is a lot for me. I have been in and out of the hospital, and being there hasn't been helpful except for rehydrating. No testings were done, except for a Colonscopy in 2007 which came out negative.
About two weeks ago (beginning of August), I started to feel a bit better taking the Tummy tamer pills, but then the next weeks, I started getting stressed out, and alternating constipation and diarrhea.
This week I got my period, and I feel like I did the first weeks of July, which is just terrible. I have the runs now, and severe nausea.
I don't know what to do. The weight loss has been scaring me, but I'm tired of going to the hospital and they aren't very helpful. They feel I am too "young" for this, and don't want to rule out other things. They keep prescribing things like Nexium, for acid problems, and other stuff. I tend to get a lot of side effects from drugs, so I don't want to take all these pills either. I think my sensitivity is from the IBS, which they don't understand.
I don't know if my period made my IBS symptoms worse or what, plus a recent stress I got. But I just want this to all end, it's so unbareable. I promised myself never to eat garbage food again, because this flare-up is truly horrible.
My symptoms are always: Lower stomach pains, severe nausea, diarrhea, sometimes constipation, gas, bloating, dizziness, weakness, weight loss/barely maintaining, no appetite, sleepless nights from stomach pain and nausea.
Sorry for the whining, and sorry for not writing in the most coherent way.
Btw - I have read all the guides on the site.
I bought the second kit for ibs. the one with tummy tamers, fiber, and a recipe book.
That's another thing, I don't know what to eat. All the recipes in the book are...well... the ingredients are expensive for my budget. I don't know any bland things I can eat right now just to get me by.
Someone help!
edit; last night I had severe pains from just gas. could it be a trigger too?

I feel for you! The first thing that you just must do is get totally and completely checked out by a physician and have all other possible problems ruled OUT. Heather has a complete list about other health conditions that have to be ruled out. A colonoscopy alone is just not enough.
The others on the board can advise you food-wise. I could, but I tend to eat beyond Heather's guidelines, which is OK for me, but may not be for you.
Can you afford medical care? Because that would be first, along with the stabilizing diet.
And yes, your monthly cycle can exacerbate things.
Take care.

I've seen a GI specialist in 2007, and recently two weeks ago.
He just told me it could be IBS and depression.
He took some blood from me, a stool sample, and said my blood pressure was really low.
He then prescribed me Donotol (sp)
I haven't taken it, because I'm scared of the side-effects, or of it lowering my blood pressure more and just making me feel worse. I'm prone to side-effets...
I tend to just take natural things (like the tummy tamers), but it may not be enough...so idk...
About the diet - I want to eat things that will help me gain the weight back, but only things I've been tolerating would be: Rice, bland/seasonless chicken baked, soup, bread, applesauce, banana, eggs (hard boiled).
I ate a taco a day ago... and I don't know if it upset my stomach. But it was made with turkey ground meat, not beef.
Thank you for the comment. Any input, and advise is appreciated.
