Is Molasses soluble fiber or insoluble fiber? Would it be safe to put a Tbsp in a cup of tea and just drink it? (A friend has done this for many years and it works like a laxative.)

Opinions?

Thanks!

Molasses is made when cane or beet sugar is processed. It contains the sugar sucrose which is the same sugar found in white and brown sugar. It does not contain any soluble or insoluble fiber. It does contain iron and calcium.

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
