Does anyone bake their own bread with a bread machine? What are the pros and cons? Can you recommend one to buy? Are they expensive? Do they take up a lot of space?
I get freshly baked white bread from Stop and Shop. I love it but it contains sugar which I think is unnecessary. Maybe not -- Do you need to add sugar to white bread to get it to rise? I doubt it but I'm not sure.
Anyway I'd love to bake my own but I am not Betty Crocker in the kitchen!

I have been making sourdough bread in a bread machine twice a week for over 5 years. Sourdough or plain white breads do not contain sugar just white flour, tbsp oil, salt, yeast, sour dough starter and water. You put the ingredients in the bread pan, choose the appropriate settings on the bread machine and it does the rest - mixing, rising, and baking. I have a Black and Decker two paddle bread machine. In Canada they cost less than $100.
