I found a very informative article on soy. I know many people have been swayed by all the negative hype on soy products -- to each there own. Bottom line is you need to do what works for you and F*** what every one else has to say right? :-)
Personally I've consumed a LOT of soy in the past 20 years - been veggie since 1973 -- and I went throught menopause basically symptom free careful no to over eat, avoiding sugar and caffeine and lot's of exercise!
Here's the link for the 411 on soy: SOY

I tried soy milk and it seemed to sit heavy on my stomach but I just bought soy light and it seems to do ok for me so far.

Dee, lest you judge from the rest of the replies, you're not the only one here who does well with soy. I am grateful for all the soy products that are available today and am grateful I can tolerate them.
I can tolerate the rice products as well but prefer the soy.

I have been looking for some facts to defend soy; however the article is 3 years old and someone might say that *new* info shows soy is bad for menopause and cancer and all that. When I have a second I am going to research soy. I am no chemist or scientist but I need to be able to explain the difference between soy's estrogen-like properties and real estrogen. I feel that soy cannot be so synonymous with estrogen like people are starting to say now.
-------------------- IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
