I've had a problem for a while now with electrolyte imbalance, some of it I'm sure is from the bouts of D attacks. But even when I'm not flaring I still have problems. Last testing I've had showed dangerously low (as they said) potassium levels and dehydration. I drink lots of water a day at least a gallon a day.

I been looking for something that isn't loaded with artificial flavors/colors/preservatives (like gatorade). Also seems if you find something natural it has Fructose in it. I found this one stuff online called Vitalyte that would be perfect if it wasn't for the fructose. Anyone have any similar problems with electrolytes, and or some recommendations.

Vitalyte Orange Ingredients:
Glucose, Fructose, Citric Acid, Sodium Chloride, Potassium Chloride, Natural Orange Flavor, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Sodium Bicarbonate, Dipotassium Phosphate, Magnesium Citrate, Calcium Citrate, and Beta Carotene

LESS SUGAR • LESS SODIUM • LESS CALORIES NO ARTIFICIAL COLORING • NO ARTIFICIAL FLAVORING • NO PRESERVATIVES

I do know that bananas are full of potassium. I eat them often because if I don't I get leg cramps really bad. You can incorporate them into recipes, cereal, or eat alone.

Thanks for the reply,

I forgot to mention I have a latex allergy, so I have to avoid foods on the latex cross reactive food list. I haven't been diagnose per se, it's more of a precaution since I react pretty bad to anything that contains latex. Foods on that list: Banana is at the top under high, Potatoes, Tomatoes are moderate warning. Still not working so I have to wait till I can afford the testing to confirm one way or another.

I get cramping allot in my legs, and muscle spasms, seem to get them at night allot to when I'm trying to sleep, have to get up and walk them out, that isn't fun lol.

Never knew that foods could cause issues with someone who has an allery to latex. I have bad reactions to latex products but have never had any issues with bananas so guess I am lucky :-) hhmmm well piddle I will try and do some research and see what I can come up with.

Here is a link that tells you what foods have potassium and then you can see what you are able to eat off the list.

Thanks Butterbean, I hadn't herd of it either till someone mentioned to me after I told them the ordeal I was going through with latex (no safe underwear, tooth brushes, you name it,its in everything) , I was having allot of respiratory problems after eating, I've noticed since cutting those foods down or out it's been better. Also getting rid of wheat and gluten, my diet is pretty lacking right now to say the least. Lots of rice, boneless skinless chicken breast, rice pasta (Tinkyada) with just a spec of olive oil is usually safe, just can't use much lol.

I'm also just thinking maybe just go with the Potassium/Magnesium supplement, I just have no idea what that will do Gi wise. I'm kinda stable right now, but I have my flare up days still.

Thanks for the link and this is the list to the latex cross reactive foods . They say cross reactive because the protein is similar as to that found in the sap of latex.

Thanks for the recipe, that should work, the ingredients are very similar to that Vitalyte stuff.
