I have a question-I have had IBS for about a year now and have just now really started incorporating a lot of soy and tofu indgredients into my diet. The problem, or maybe it's not a problem, is that I am experiencing more constipation and bloating than before. It's not painful or anything like that. I'm just wondering if this is ok and also is it possible that these may subside as I continue to eat the soy and tofu products. Is it just my body adjusting?

I know soy/tofu products can cause bloating & gas if you're not used to them, but you will adjust to it. The constipation being worse...not sure on that.

I think the constipation might just be because I have added so much more food to my diet that I am used to and my body is trying to deal with it.

Maybe. Did you up your water intake with your food intake?

No, I didn't, but you're right, I need to. DUH!! I'm going to see what happens over the next week or so and see if the symptoms subside. Thanks.

Have you ever tried taking Beano with soy products? I find that it makes a big difference in the bloat factor! There are also other similar enzyme products out there that help tremendously with the digestion of bean based products and other potentially gassy foods. Hope it helps!

Gerry - have you ever tried keeping a food journal? I'm wondering if maybe you're eating something you not realizing is a trigger.
