Anyone know if Miralax is safe to take long term? Does it help?
Im reluctant to try since i tried Colace once and it gave me bad IBS spasms and irritated my bladder.

Do a search on this website for it there are alot of posts about it. I do know that colace is just a stool softener and that miralax pulls water so to stimulate a bowel movement and also has side effects of bloating, gas, and cramping too.

I don't know about safe it is for long-term; everyone seems to have a different opinion about that, but I use it every single day, and if I have to, for the rest of my life, so be it. I also take 500mgs of colace every day, but it wasn't enuf, so I added the Miralax to the mix... it's been a miracle for me.
I can't say how it would work for you, if you're that sensitive to the colace. I know my system is hyper-sensitive to things, so I started out verrrrrry slowly with the Miralax, just a few granules added to my 'fiber water' every day. (I mix Heather's fiber in a bottle of water, and add the Miralax to that, once/day.) I don't know how people take it in capfuls... that would send me into terminal diarrhea! but those few granules are like magic. I only had a little gas and bloating for the first three days or so... nothing too bad, and it's stopped, now.
If you try it? just try a tiny little bit, at first. For those of us that can handle it, it's like a godsend to those with chronic constipation.
