I CANNOT find any relief for my constipation, hard stools and straining. I have done everything and tried everything - sometimes things will help, but then they stop working. Ive made radical dietary changes, tried hundreds to thousands of supplements/remedies and I still struggle. NOTHING WORKS! I have spastic constipation/lazy bowel and am in extreme discomfort all the time - especially when I travel. is there anything i can do to get my colon working properly again? I know this is graphic but every time i have an urge to go i have to use a syringe to squirt water up and get things moving, otherwise i strain and strain and it aggravates my hemmorhoid and bladder. i am in desperate need of help.

Okay, you want a radical suggestion? Something you haven't tried? Go see a medical intuitive. I have just started working with one and the things she has "read" from my body are amazing. I think that each of us has IBS for different reasons - and there is usually more than one "reason" going on. Medical intuitives can see both the emotional and physiological causes of illness. I know it sounds so out there, but after 12 years of IBS with not much relief, I decided to go for it and I'm so glad I did. Read Carolyn Myss' Anatomy of the Spirit (even the first couple of chapters) and you'll understand more of what I'm talking about. I just started, so I can't say yet that it'll change my IBS, but I will keep posting here with my progress. There - a reply!

I don't know much about c i'm a d'er and not much for the short term relief right away but you could try slippery Elm for a longer term solution. My mother inlaw uses it for her IBS C and she also has extra colon. She said she finds relief using this on adaily basis. Also maybe try prune juice every day.that may help and I woul dthink it is natural. Drink a lot of tea and water! move around and exercise every day as much as possible! buffer your IF with SF and a fiber supplement! try miralax or magnesium try a heating pad and hot baths for relaxation When you have put your bowel into a coma through various stimulants it doesn't like getting jump started. It can be painful to add fiber but there is no other solution. Stay away from all stimulants and so on and gradually the colon will start to move again. My SIL had altered motility and a history of C with laxative use. She uses 4T of acacia a day, lots of water and exercise. She has some bloating (doesn't follow the Heather diet) but her C is way better.
-------------------- IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!

Have you tried taken removing all supplement/remedies from you diet except a soluble fiber supplement? You may have to increase your consumption of dietary fiber plus soluble fiber supplement until you daily intake is above 30-40 grams per day.
What does your GI doctor suggest you do?
