Does Gas Come with Bloating????

Hi - It's my turn to ask an IBS question:

When you feel bloated, do you normally have gas with it? I feel bloated, but without gas. Wouldn't they go hand-in-hand? It's not painful, just full feeling. And, I didn't eat a lot for dinner. Some well cooked asparagus, turkey, a 6" flour tortilla and some marinated peppers, onions and carrots.

Anybody have any feedback for ME?

Shandela,

I get bloated with AND without gas, personally So that sounds pretty normal for me......
I get bloated no matter how much I eat...it doesn't discriminate It's AWFUL!
If I ever come up with a solution, I'll let you know--please do the same (Heather suggests fennel tea--I haven't given it a fair shot yet).
I hope you feel less bloated soon!!

Sharon,

I'm much the same as Ruchie. I do find that the bloating is painful though. My stomach gets so swollen that I get a really bad lower back pain. Sometimes gas comes with it and sometimes not. Sometimes if I release a lot of gas I start to feel better and less bloated but not always.

My yoga teacher suggested a couple of things re water intake to help with the bloating. I'm trying this now so I'll let you know. She said water dilutes stomach acid so try to have your last drink 15 mins before food and no water for an hour after food. It's hard to do as I find it hard to fit in 2 litres between all that but it makes sense.

I usually bloat up after a meal. I bloat so much at times that I look pregnant! It is a painful feeling. I go to work in the morning with a baggy skirt on and by afternoon, it's restrictive! Usually a bit after the bloatedness, I'll get stomach gurgling and gas.

ME TOO! I also start out with a baggy skirt that becomes restrictive by midday. It's so frustrating! I just started zelnorm last night, it's supposed to help with bloating--I'll keep you posted. Anyone have any other suggestions for us?
