Sorry if this has been discussed before. I did a search and could not find the info.

I have been using the acacia fiber for nearly four years. Back in August, I went from being mostly stable to having problems. I have also gone from being IBS-D to IBS-A. I tried upping the acacia for a few weeks, but it gave me wicked diarrhea. Can a fiber supplement stop working? Has anyone tried using two kinds of fiber at once?

I don't know if I should add an additional type of fiber, or just switch altogether!

Hmmm... interesting... is there anything else you have changed since you've noticed this? I wouldn't think the Acacia would stop working. I've taken Miralax for the last 2 years, and even though it's not a fiber, I have not gotten immune to it. That doesn't mean it works on demand, but it does still work. Sorry if this didn't help much, I'm sorry you aren't feeling well! I'm having a bad attack today as well.

I don't believe a fiber can stop working. It isn't a drug but really just fiber without food, if you see what I mean. There must be something else changing. And you might want to fiddle with the dosage and with the amount of liquid you drink.

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
