Last night before bed I took my normal meds & my align and for the first time in a long time I took a flax seed oil cap. I awoke at 3:30 am with horrible cramps then proceeded to have doubled over on the pot ( sorry to be graphic) cold sweats and complete blow out. I haven't experienced that pain/ nausea and cramps with the sweats in a long time. The whole thing was a few hours I took a malox then a levsin and when I could I tried to drink my peppermint and fennel tea. Today I have a horrible headache and still dont feel right .. I have only eaten a banana and a slice of bread. Over the holidays I experimented with a piece of chocolate here and there and was ok. Could this be the flax oil?? Or all my little cheating here and there catching up with me? Why the middle of the night it always has hit me that way. What can IO do today to start feeling better and get rid of this headache. Took Tylenol etc. not really working. I am babysitting 2 kids today on top of my own 2 so Its hard to go and rest.

HERES SOME INFO THAT I FOUND anyone else have any insight.. I am IBS A.. IT states it can be helpful to those with Constipation.
FLax seeds, an oily substance that comes from flax plants, offer many benefits because they contain Omega 3 fatty acids. Flax seed is a common alternative to using fish oil supplements, especially for vegetarians. It also has more benefits to offer than fish oil. It can help you control your high cholesterol or blood pressure. Keep in mind that some fish oily have a high amount of mercury in them which can block the benefits of the Omega 3 it contains. With flax oil you will reap all the benefits of the Omega 3 fatty acids without the problems that can be found when too much mercury is present.

Those who suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) have found relief by taking flax seed oil supplements as well. This is because of the combination of the Omega 3 fatty acids and the Mucilage in it. Crohn's Disease is a form of IBS is found in those who lack Omega 3 fatty acids so adding them helps them to with the issue more than fish oil will.

The Mucilage in flax seed is known as a natural laxative so it can assist with constipation as well. This natural laxative can help with removing various toxins from the body that build up and lead to diseases, especially if your lifestyle and diet aren't the healthiest. It can be difficult to remove such toxins, but with fax oil it is very simple.

Women will find flax seed oil supplements to be very helpful as the Lignan will assist with stabilizing levels of estrogen, the Omega 3 reduces the effects of menstruation, and flax oil is believed to reduce the risk of breast cancer. Many women in menopause have found flax oil helps to regulate the levels of estrogen and progesterone. Everyone can benefit from a healthier immune system with flax seed oil supplements because they offer anti bacterial and anti viral properties. Children can benefit from flax oil as well because they will experience fewer colds and respiratory ailments.

While flax seed oils supplements offer many wonderful benefits, some people should not take it including those who are pregnant because it will alter hormone levels. It should not be given to babies and mother's who are nursing should not take it either. It can have negative effects for those with Hemophilia or Warfarin. You doctor will recommend you stop taking it in the weeks prior to any kind of surgery.

Flax seed oil supplements are high in Omega 3 fatty acids. As a result it can help with many different concerns including reducing high blood pressure or cholesterol, assisting with relief for IBS or constipation, assisting women with their issues related to menstruation and menopause, reduce the chances of cancer, remove toxins, and improve your immune system. Keep in mind that it is not to be used by those who are pregnant or nursing, have Hemophilia, or who will be having a surgical procedure.

You can also find more information at omega fatty acids and flaxseed oil. OmegaFlaxSeedOil.com is a comprehensive resource to help individuals gain the benefits of essential nutrition such as flax seed oil, omega 3 and vitamin B12.

I've been too afraid of flax to use it. It is oil and it is IF and it has that extra laxative property. If you try it another time of day with lots of fat free soluble fiber food to buffer the oiliness and IF of it, you could see if that works better and causes no upset. For me morning is the time to try something risky in that I am less volatile then. After lunch and dinner my gut gets gurgly easier. So you won't know if you can do it without another more safe try. BUT is there a good reason to take it at all or do you need it, I mean?

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!

I used to take them all the time with no issues ( that I know of) but I think I must have just overdid and this was 1000 mg. I also used to take Icelandic Minerals Omega 3 no problems that I am aware of with them. I know fish oils have such great health benefits from Skin to mood, etc etc..
