Hi,
With IBS-C, is it common to have intestinal pain shortly after waking, even before eat breakfast? It seems like when my special needs daughter, who is nonverbal, wakes up, that peristalis starts up even before eating and she starts having intestinal cramping/spasms right away. Do other people on here experience this?

I do not have IBS-C so I can't really answer with C experience. I do have IBS-D and I wake up most mornings with some type of stomach ache.

I'm not sure what the answer would be with C. I normally just wait for it to go away and usually can't eat as soon as I get up. I have to wait an hour or so.

Sorry I don't have any helpful advise for you. Hopefully someone who is C will.

I have IBS~D and I can start with D as soon as my eyes open in the morning. So, yeah I have pain when I wake up. Since I have been on the EFI diet this only happens 2 or 3 days a week, compared to every day before. Hopefully the EFI diet will help you.

Most mornings when I wake up, I do have intestinal pains, especially if I ate late the night before. This is not uncommon with IBS-C. My tummy hurts/spasms/cramps/or is just uncomfortable 10 out of 16 hours a day that I'm awake, it doesn't bother too much when I'm asleep. I am on the EFI diet and it works very well to alleviate pain/bloating/constipation, but there are still spasms in my colon that come and go very often. As I told someone else, my grandmother suggests drinking a glass of very hot water every morning to aid digestion. I have started doing this with tea, and it does seem to help with cramps and provides an early bowel movement. Hope this helps.
