My DH is now in the second day of an episode, unable to sleep, make a bm, extreem cramping. Took him to the ER this morning and he was so irratated at the doctor who told him he did not need to be there and it was his constitutional right to leave, he walked out. The doctor would not listen to what he had to say about his symptoms and was just telling him it was probably his appendix. He has been on a fiber regimen along with dyciclomine but too many chistmas goodies got the best of him. Now we are all paying for it. We have tried everything we can think of..fiber, his rx, peppermint, tea, hot baths but nothing is working. Now he is afraid to eat and of making a bm because of the pain it will cause...any suggestions? Please?

I'm having a "C" flare too - probably too much sugar - but, bloating, cramping can't go but a little. Anyway, someone once told me about hot tea in the AM w/ molasses in it. I'm going to try it in the AM. I use Lipton's instant decaf w/ lemon and add about a heaping teaspoon of molasses and sometimes it does make me "go"... I think the original recipe called for Blackstrap molasses, but I'm too chicken to go there!
And, I hate to take a laxative because they cause such cramping for hours for me. Also, if he can - walk around as much as possible - even if it's going for a walk in a store...or down the street.
So, HTH....
Blessings! Dorothy
