I guess with the exception of the prebiotic effect, I am having a hard time finding a difference between the different kinds of soluble fiber (i.e benefiber(guar) acacia, etc). Are there thos of you who take alternate forms of soluble fiber, like Benefiber, rather than the Acacia? Just looking for thoughts.

I do not take Benefiber, but I have before, and I don't think there's that much of a difference except that the Acacia fiber is all natural and organic. There are people here that do take Benefiber regularly, and they say that it helps. HTH

Also, some sources on here say 1 tsp = 2gms fiber, while I have seen others descriptions that say it is 2.5gms soluble fiber. Does anyone know which one it is?

I took benefiber for around 3 months, it didn't make things any worse, or any better, but that is personal experience some people have good luck so maybe it would be worth a try

Benefiber is pretty good. Metamucil can cause more gas. Acacia is the most easily tolerated and has no fillers and junk.

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
