Does anyone know if ground flax seed is safe to add in foods like oatmeal, shakes, baked goods? I have IBS-C and also diverticulitis. I thought someone stated on the board that they add it into their foods to help with constipation?

I am a C add it to my oatmeal. I buy the seeds whole, then grind them in batches in a coffee grinder, and add to oatmeal (AFER it's cooked - as heating destoys the omega fatty acids). I have been playing around with the amount lately - maybe start with a rounded teaspoon and see how it goes.

Hard to say, but I think it helped. I should be honest and say I recently switched from flaxseed to Salba (ground chia seeds) on my oatmeal - can't really tell any difference. And I am doing/taking about a zillion things for IBS so hard to tell what works, esp. as am not stable. So really, why listen to me

I was just wondering if flaxmeal was safe too! Maybe some more people will respond.

I don't seem to be able to find a fiber supplement that I tolerate and works.

I add two tablespoons to my smoothie every morning. Works great!
