This newsletter (bottom of page). Heather says "In plain English, this means that aloe causes faster and stronger contractions of the colon - something that people with IBS are already overly prone to, and which can cause violent abdominal cramps, painful spasms, and diarrhea."

It is probably not a good idea to take aloe vera when you have IBS.

Aloe vera is a rather hash laxative. Perhaps you could try a stool softner like Dulco-Ease or (Colace in North America). It is available at most chemists. It is not as hash - however, it does take a bit longer to work. And you can take it for quite a long time without problems.

I have IBS-C and I did take aloe vera juice for a while. It did help for a while and then it stopped working. Im taking Heathers Fiber now and I love it!! I have to take the maximum dosage(5TBS) a day but Im not in pain anymore!!!!

Julie, I just responded to another one of your posts, but maybe you should focus on your diet for a bit before you start messing with supplements such as probiotics and aloe vera juice. Your diet doesn't seem to include much SF, and in fact includes a lot of IBS triggers such as dairy and bran.

Please review the EFI guidelines and give them a try.
