Has anyone had the hydrogen breath test done for fructose/lactose intolerance? I am having the tests done on Thursday and Friday next week but i'm really worried about it. I am IBS-D and have to travel to the clinic by public transport.....I'm terrified i'll have a toilet accident on the train Has anything like this happened to anyone after the tests? I need reassurance!

I've never had the test but I have a few suggestions. Take some immodium with you so you can take it after the test. Give yourself time after the test to see if your going to have a reaction before heading back on the train. A lot of the trains I travelled on in Scotland had toilet facilities - maybe the London trains do as well? Also if you go to http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/stations/ you can look up station facilities at stops along the way.
Hope this helps.

I am IBS-C and the test made me feel like I was going have D! The drink gave me cramps and gas. I can absolutely see that it might upset a D bowel. It's a very good test to have, so the suggestion of being prepared is best. Good luck to you!!! and I hope you feel better soon.
