Hi,
I sually always flip flop between C and D. Never take any OTC meds, since I figure it always swings back so why bother, and, don't want to make anything worse.
Problem is, now I've got some uncontrollable loose stools and I am leaving on a long car ride in a few hours!!! We are driving from Toronto to Montreal (a 5/6 hrs drive)and the rest stops are sometimes very far apart! And I want to make it in time for my mom's xmas dinner
I know I should do some searches but I am at work but mostly running to bathroom and time is at a premium!
Any ideas on something I can pick up at the pharmacy? or herbal anything?

Immodium is the stand by most of us use. Take 2 to stop the D. I usually start with 1, but sometimes it doesn't work well enough.

The problem I get after taking Immodium is sometimes not being able to go the next day. Lately though, with taking lots of fiber that really helps me from getting constipated. Hope you have a good trip. Try to eat some safe snacks on the road and altoids are always good for the stomach.

You know immodium was working great for me and then
they took out my gall bladder and now I can't take
it all. If I do I get horrible pains in my chest/stomach
just above the waist line. Anyone else experience that?

Have you tried using Questran? Here's info on it from the glossary .

Questran
Questran (generic name cholestyramine) is a prescription drug used to bind bile acids normally stored in the gallbladder. Questran binds the bile acids in the intestines and prevents them from reaching the colon. If you have diarrhea-predominant Irritable Bowel Syndrome, but your symptoms began after you had your gallbladder or ileum (the last portion of the small intestine) removed, you likely are suffering from a malabsorption of bile acids secreted by the liver. These acids, which are normally stored in the gallbladder, are instead being dumped directly into the small intestines, causing chronic irritation and diarrhea.

I've been taking Cholestramine for about 10 years. My
symptoms began before the Gall Bladder removal a year
and a half ago. It helps and I swore by it for a long
time but now it seems to still help but not enough. I'll keep taking it though.
I have to order it from Canada because Kaiser won't give it to me.
Thanks for your answer!
