I need help please. I am 43 and have had IBS since I was in high school, but the past couple of years things have changed and gotten much worse. It was determined early this year that I had a gallstone and bad gallblader and that was removed. My problems continued, so the doctor did the colonoscopy and endoscopy and found that along with the IBS (constipation) I also have gastritis. I am trying so hard to get a handle on all of this. The gastritis makes me nausious along with the pain and bloating. I have been taking the acacia along with the peppermint capsules and I'm drinking the fennel tea twice a day. I read that the tea stimulates the production of gastric juices. I am taking prilosec which is supposed to limit the production of acid in my stomach. Is the stimulation of the tea counteracting the prilosec or are the gastric juices other things besides the acid? Thanks for any help or suggestions.

I have had IBS since for 30 years. I was also diagnosed with gastritis about 20 years ago, when I was going through a bad bout of stomach pain. At that time not as much was known about IBS, so I think the doctor figured it must be gastritis because all my tests were negative. At one point I was given Donnatol, and realized I had no symptoms when I took it, but I felt too dazed to function. It subsided after about a week or two. In hindsight, I wonder if all my symptoms were related to the IBS (since the Donnatol was an antispasmotic) I learned by myself that coffee, stress, fried food and alcohol caused it to come back, so I avoided those. It got much better. Now with the onset of menopause, I have had some recurring IBS symptoms and this website has been a godsend to give me more ways to keep things under control. Hang in there- it gets better.

I was on prilosec too and my doctor took me off it because it wasnt really working for me and people get hooked to it. So just be careful and use it only if its helping
