Please keep us up updated. I've fought all this "stuff"...Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, Generalized Anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Degenerative Disc Disease, Herniated Disks, Pinched Nerves, Scoliosis... so long and I'm not ready to give up. BUT, this year has been especially rough and at work I feel like the poster child for "sickness" LOL - even though I haven't had the flu, etc.
I don't want to file for disability, but it would be nice to know I might could if need be. I do not want to go through another year of the stress I've been through.
So, I'm interested in how it goes, if you don't mind.
Thanks!!! Dorothy

Have you tried Imodium? I didn't get much relief from it before I found this Website but once I started on Heather's EFI Diet Imodium helped immensely while I was getting stabilized.

You should also take a look at the Break The Cycle diet. It's all Soluble Fiber foods (I add pretzels and Rice Chex to Heather's list) and following it for a few days can really help calm down your tummy.

You might talk to you doctor about something for stress. I do very well with .5 of Ativan as needed.

Acacia has been great for me, also. Start low and go slow.

I haven't known very many tech guys or tax accountants who don't live on coffee. If you're among the majority, you'll almost certainly do much better if you can wean yourself off caffeine.

Finally, be sure you've read through the Website outside the Boards and gotten a good feel for trigger foods, Soluble Fiber, Insoluble Fiber, GI irritants, and all the other elements of Heather's approach. I had horrible IBS-D when I found this site and it's made a world of difference in my life. I hope it does the same for you. If you have any questions, just ask.

I sent in my disability papers on Wed. of last week I got approved that Friday and already got a check in the mail today. They back payed me from the date I quit my job which was Dec2,2008. I got a pretty good chunk of change I can say. So if you are wondering if you can get it, oh yes you can. They didn't even question me on why it took so long. I just wrote a letter and sent it with my paper work. Good luck to anyone trying to get disability for their ibs.

whta kind of disability did you get? Is it state disability that temporary or federal disability which is permanent? I have file for permanent and they told me it could take up to 5 months to get an answer. But I filed for state temporary disability to help me until the permanent disability makes a decision and got it with no problems at all. I know here where I live getting federal/permanent disability is extremely hard.

Its state disability that I got. They sent me a letter stating if I think my illness is going to be long term that I can apply for permenant. I don't really know how that will work but I have a certain amount I get to claim through the state so if I'm not improved with my issues by the time the state disability runs out I will have to look into the permanent. Have you tried for state disability or just the permenant?

I am currently getting state disability. But I have applied for permenant disability just waiting for a decision to be made. In my state if you think its going to last longer than a year then you apply before your state runs out so that you won't have a lapse in your income. It can take a long time to get permanent as well. Alot of times the permanent will deny the first claim then you have 60 days to appeal it. I think if your getting state and it runs out then you have 45 days after it runs out to apply for permanent for them to back date it to the original date of disability. Like mine would go back to November 1st of last year. Then they will deduct the state income I got from the permenent then I would get the full permanent from then on. I would also get SSI which is supplemental payment for those who get permanent disability but do not receive alot. The easiest thing to do is go online to your state disability website and read everything you can.
