I was just thinking about how I used to go out to Starbucks or out to dinner with friends without even thinking and now I pretty much have no social life, and hardly see my friends unless they come to my house. I've become a prisoner in my house because I never feel well!

I did eat wheat over the weekend and felt like crap, but who's to say I wouldn't have felt like crap anyway? I'm going to give wheat free/gf another shot this week, but it's so hard when you can't substitute sandwiches with salads! What the heck do I eat for lunch? I've limited myself to a handful of foods that are generally "safe" for me, and I'm tired of them! You can only eat so many bowls of cornflakes before you want to scream!

I've recognized that my job is contributing to my stress. I'm a counselor, so it's pretty intense at times. And I have a co-worker who really upsets me (she very vocally hates white people and skinny people, including me!). I've also recognized that stressing about what I eat and stressing about whether or not I'm going to bloat when wearing a tighter shirt tend to cause more problems. I'm aware of these things being problems, but I don't know what to do about them! I can't quit my job, and I can't see myself not worrying about bloating!

I just bought this book - it's about controlling IBS through relaxation techniques. I haven't gotten very far, as the doctor recommends only learning/using one technique per week.

I'm also considering ordering the IBS Audio program, despite the cost.

I don't know what else to do short of going to live in a cave alone somewhere!

Hi Fen,

I was really a skeptic about the tapes, but they do greatly help the anxiety part. Have you read any of the testimonials of people who have done the tapes? I initially thought there is no way this could help me, but I just finished yesterday and improvement truly has taken place over the last couple of months. I have also started acupuncture and wish I had started it much sooner. I read somewhere in a post on this website from quite some time ago that someone was doing the tapes and acupuncture at the same time and was feeling really good.
