Besides the fact I can't chew as a result of a facial injury, my constant nausea is making it difficult to get enough nutrition.
Not eating makes me nauseas, but then when I eat it makes it worse. I can only have a few swallows of milkshake or fruit smoothie or a few spoonfuls of soup at a time before I start to feel really ill. If I push myself to keep eating because I'm so hungry, I will get so nauseus that eventually I throw all my food up, and I'm back where I started.
Certain things I vomit up on the spot, like grapefruit juice, so I avoid it entirely (it used to be one of my favorite bevarages). I've tried spacing things apart so I have some smoothie every 15 minutes, but sometimes even that is not enough time for the severe nausea to die down before the next few sips.
I've tried raw ginger, candied ginger, ginger capsules... ginger just doesn't touch my nausea. I go through the herb book trying different things and absolutely nothing calms it.
I find myself eating less and less, which is stupid because I am already suffering from protein-calorie malnutrition (I've lost seventeen pounds and I was slender to begin with), and I feel like if things get so bad I end up in the hospital, it will be my fault because I'm such a wimp I can't push through the nausea and vomiting enough to eat adequately.
I just don't know what to do. About the only thing I can handle is sardines, believe it or not. And even they make me nauseas after a few.
Even baby pablum makes me nauseas. On the worst days even the smell of food makes me nauseas, as a matter of fact even the mention or thought of food. Nobody can talk about food around me on my bad days.
I've thought of asking for a nasogastric or a gastric feeding tube so I can at least bypass my sense of taste and my gag reflex, and just using water mixed with protein/meal replacement drinks so it will cause less nausea than actual blended food. But I don't know how well that would work, or if it would make any difference at all.
I don't know what to do! And I'm scared I'm going to slowly die if I don't find some way to conquer this nausea. I really need help.

First question: HAVE YOU SEEN A DOCTOR FOR A COMPLETE WORK UP??????? If not, go there immediately. I don't want to be a messenger of doom - but, if this has been prolonged, you probably are already dehydrated and losing weight too rapidly can also affect your gallbladder. PLEASE, go see a medical professional first. The nausea may be caused by something simple, even our emotions can cause nausea/diarrhea/migraines - you name it:-) - but you cannot continue as you are without harming your body.

I think yopu really need to find meds to help with this.Until you can get it under control then herbals aren't going to be very effective.

Um, GO SEE A DOCTOR! A coworker of mine has been going through extreme nausea like you describe for several months. She has gotten tested for everything from her gallbladder to her pancreas, to her stomach not emptying properly, as well as all kinds of blood tests for various conditions. It could be any of a million things, but you need to get the ball rolling and get it checked out.

This will sound really weird but years ago my dog was very sick and throwing up a lot. I went to Whole Foods or GNC and they gave me something, I cant remember the name but I am sure they will know if you do some research. It was a strange name but it was natural in pill form. That might help the nausea so you can eat your smoothies or milkshakes. If you can get some down I would wait awhile before taking a few more sips because at least that will stay down for you and then try again. You need to get your drinks to stay down. Try Ensure or Boost if your not allergic to milk. That will give you more of the nutrients that you are missing. I hope you are working closely with your doctors and nutrionists since you lost so much weight.
Try saltine crackers or Heathers Peppermints for the nausea. Good Luck
