I always thought I was IBS C, but now I seem to be more A...often, I will have a bowel movement, or even several loose ones after a period of C, and I get really hungry...and then I think "oh, I feel ok, my stomach is fine now, and I am starving, so it's ok for me to eat X." And then I get a terrible attack: gas, bloating, pain, reflux, etc.

This happened to me today, and it was a reminder that even when my stomach feels ok, I still have to be cautious...in fact, I have to be extra cautious, if my tummy is empty!

Does this ever happen to anyone else?

I have never had C but I definitely get hungry after an attach of D and if I am not careful it spells big trouble. Get out the cream of rice. I had lunch yesterday with a friend that has ulcerative collitis and he and I agreed as we tackled the menu at the Tuscan Italian restaurant where we ate that it was much better to eat safe than suffer the consequences.

Yes even if you feel good you need to eat safe. That is the reason you are feeling good.Going crazy and eatimg off your plan will give you problems.

Yes, definitely! Making smart choices at every meal (even at restaurants on special occasions) is so important, even when we are feeling ok. So far, I have made good choices today, and I feel much, much better. Particularly at restaurants, I always have problems if I eat anything that's even a little bit "iffy." In fact, I try not to let myself get too hungry before I go out to eat...that way I know I can make good decisions, eat slowly and chew my food well, and leave feeling happy and satisfied, rather than stuffed and in pain!
