My stools are WEIRD! They're not diarrhea...but they're not normal poop either. It's sorta like diarrhea...but it's not so watery. What is this? What could be causing it? Should I be worried? I took sugar out of my diet (except fruits, veggies, and soy milk). I'm also eating less and less processed foods these days. Could my body be detoxing? I'm also on some meds (I finally had to give in and take meds when I had a fever for 3 days...102 is pretty high...)...should I be worried? Do I need to call my doc? It can't be the antibiotic...cause I've taken it before...and I wouldn't think allergy meds would do this...
Thanks guys!
*hugs*

Hey Ruchie - I've had that happen before. It's what I call "loose stools".
Are you sure it's not the antibiotic? They usually tear my stomach apart and give me D. I hate taking them!
You're eating soluble with your fruits & veggies, right?
Maybe it could be the allergy meds - did you check the side effects for them?
That's all I can think of. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Thanks Mags!
I've taken Augmentin a million times before and never had a prob...but I guess your body changes...maybe now it is a prob.
The veggies are soup veggies...from Imagine (they're organic)...and they're pureed and everything. The fruits are juiced...so they shouldn't be a prob either. I'll have to check on the allergy meds...
It's good to know this isn't just happening to me...loose stools! LOL So, it has a name? Is it ok to have this for a few days? Should I be worried about losing water like you do with D?
Thanks again Mags!
Love, Ruchie
P.S. Hope you had a SPECTACULAR b-day!

LOL - Yes, it has a name!
I don't think you have to worry about the lost water like with D, but I'm not a doc, so I don't know for sure. Hopefully Heather or someone else will have some info for you.
B-day was pretty cool. Chris made dinner for me - the man makes a mean shrimp!

Hi Ruchie,
Oh, Ooh, Oh, Ooh..................please take probiotics when you take an antibiotic. I swear it is one of the reason that contributed to me getting IBS in the first place. The antibiotics raise heck with the good flora in the gut.....
That or lots of soy yogurt if you're used to it..
This may be why the stools are weird........
Just a thought... Kandee

Ruchie, I get loose stools sometimes, too, and often have no clue why. I agree, though, it's probably the antibiotics you're on. I've noticed that my body can't tolerate a lot of things it used to be able to. I hope it gets better soon! Take care!

I've been getting this for years, I could feel really constipated but then have to go to the bathroom with this loose 'wierd stuff' 6 times a day. Still no feeling of relief. I despair....

It could be that although you've taken the antibiotics before, your eating habits have changed since then. Perhaps you got along fine with your old eating habits, just not your new ones.

Yep, I'm taking probiotics. But I forgot...the doc told me to triple my dose (I also have a yeast infection...yuck!) So I'd better take MORE probiotics than what I'm taking now. Thanks for the reminder!
Btw...I'm usully not D...I'm usully C...it's scary how meds can do diff. things to your bod!

Not sure, unfortunately. It's one of those situations that if you chose one way, you'll hurt the other way.. and vise versa. Sorry - wish I could help you more.

Ruchie, how are you feeling? I mean, besides having strange poop. If that's the only thing that's bothering you, I'd give a while; maybe it's the meds, and maybe your body is trying to adjust to them. My poop has changed since I changed from Citrucel to acacia and upped the dosage -- but the change is GOOOOOOD.
When the doc gave you the meds, did he tell you to return or to call and let him know how you're doing? It wouldn't be a bad idea to do that anyway, if only for peace of mind.
Bev.

Ruchie,
You're very welcome................just another little hint if you have a yeast infection.............lay off the bread if you can....it's full of yeast, and you don't want to add anymore to your system than necessary........go more for the rice cakes, etc. Then there is a little hint I've heard of but never tried since I don't ever recall having a yeast infection (isn't that weird) and that is to iron with a hot iron the crotch of your panties after the've been washed and dried, before you wear them. It has something to do with killing any bacteria that may be left over......... Oh my.....I don't believe I just wrote this ....I can just hear the reaction to this one....but had to pass it on since who knows (?) it may just shorten the infection time for you... Good luck to you.......... and have a happy Holiday... Kandee
BTW, I'm a "C" too, but just sometimes I'll get a short "D" attack, usually caused by stress............go figure!

You should definetely talk to your Dr before stopping the antibiotics as I learned that if you stop before you should your bacteria can become immune to the antibiotic. Maybe they could have you change to a different antibiotic. My son and I get terrible diarrhea from Augmentin. It is a broad spectrum antibiotic that kills off the natural flora in your gut, so probiotics are important while taking antibiotics. Hope this makes sense. Sometimes I ramble. Joan

I've heard the same thing. As a matter of fact, I've also heard to wash all your panties in hot water, whether they're supposed to be washed in hot or not according to the washing instructions on the tag, to help prevent recurrent yeast infections beause the hot water helps kill the bacteria.

Don't worry Mags. I was told to use a blow dryer on that area to prevent or treat yeast infections. If that doesn't feel weird-and I'm sure it would look even weirder!

I can def. believe you've never had a yeast infection...they're NOT NORMAL (even though they're very common!) You must have a good immune system...that's wonderful!
Thanks for the tips...I really appreciate you writing that embarassing stuff for me...it's very helpful!!!
You're fantastic Kandee!

Ruchie, is that true? If you haven't had a yeast infection that means you have a good immune system? I'm curious --'cause that would be me. I have been enjoying this thread 'cause I'm learning all kinds of interesting fixes! Ironing underpants . . . go figure!!! Bev

You're so welcome Ruchie............and YOU, well you are just one of the most adorable, delightful posters I've ever seen.......You are a delight to read.........each and every one of your posts. You are so positive, so caring, so loving. Just a joy and a real asset to this board.
My immune system........? Good? Heavens no........probably about the worst........was on Benedryl for over 20 years for food allergies..then now hypothyroid, etc...I DO however supplement to the hilt....(I should own stock in Twin Labs, just to name one)and I exercise my A-*(&^% off every morning at aerobics. I'm anything but a jock, never was, but when you get to be 1/2 century and 1/2 decade old you think you better start taking better care of yourself if you want to be around a while....
Anyway, hope you start feeling better............it's no fun to be down when Santa is due in such a short period of time...

I'm no doc (although I WISH I were...) but if you do have a yeast infection...your immunity is down...from what I've heard. So I jumped to conlusions thinking Kandee's immunity must be great if she's never had a yeast infection. But...you know how they say two wrongs don't make a right...I guess just because you've never had a YI it doesn't mean you have good immunity. But I think it's GREAT if you've never had a yeast infection.....I hope you NEVER do!

You can get an infection from being in the water to much. It's a common complain of female lifeguards. Also, tightfitting clothing doesn't help. Know why Bevs and I don't get them.....? No underwear!!! (I just couldn't resist that one.) I think we're OFF the subject............. Not a good thing.............I better get off and get ready for my holiday company............
Cheers.....Kandee

Hi; What are probiotics?

Hi Louise!
In your gut you have bacteria. If you take antibiotics...this will kill the good and the bad bacteria in your gut. Prob. is we need the good bacteria for our immunity (if I have this wrong...please someone chime in and correct me!) Probiotics replace all the bacteria in the gut. You can get probiotcs....acidophilos, bifidus, and others...from cultured yogurt/soy yogurt or from a powder or a pill at a health food store.
HTH!
